Not So Strong
Not So Strong was first performed during a low-key gig at Hoxton's Bar and Kitchen in June 2007, and became a regular feature on the setlist throughout the rest of the year. It quickly established itself as a fan favourite, and many of you expressed shock and disappointment when it did not appear on Hey Ma.
Gone but not forgotten
Happily, Not So Strong wasn't consigned to oblivion... Those of you who saw James perform in Europe this summer will have noted its return to the set. The band have just finished recording the song during sessions for the next album, and will be distributing this recording online.
Tim says: "The song is about a boxing match. A genre of one unless you count Simon and Garfunkel's 'The Boxer'. I am interested in the paradoxical sense of peace that can arrive at the moment when you feel you have lost everything."

Last of the Summer Festivals
The band are in Kraków at the moment, preparing for their appearance at the Coke Live Music Festival. They'll be taking to the stage at 9pm, before headliners The Killers. They will then fly straight back to the UK to play at the V Festivals over the weekend, appearing at Weston Park, Staffordshire on Saturday and Hylands Park, Chelmsford on Sunday. James will be on the V Stage at 4:40pm, followed by Elbow, Snow Patrol and Oasis.
These shows will mark the end of a busy summer festival season for the band, and after a short break they'll be back to work on the next record.

Review : JAMES - HEY MA by Alternative
Συνεχίζοντας την παρουσίαση Review για το νεο cd HEY MA ακολουθεί του φίλου μου bloger Ανεστάκη Φώτη (Alternative) :Όταν ακούς πριν από ένα χρόνο ότι επανασυνδέονται οι James και κάνουν περιοδεία και ότι θα κυκλοφορήσουν καινούριο δίσκο, το πρώτο πράγμα που έρχεται στο μυαλό σου είναι τι κομμάτια θα περιλαμβάνει αυτός ο δίσκος και αν μπορούν να επαναλάβουν την επιτυχία των προηγούμενων album τους, τα οποία έχουν χαραχτεί βαθιά στην καρδιά μας. Ακούγοντας όμως το “Hey Ma “ καταλαβαίνεις ότι είναι καλός δίσκος και ότι oι James δεν ξαναγύρισαν για να κοροϊδέψουν τους fan τους οι οποίοι περίμεναν πως και πώς να τον ακούσουν.

Back in 1991, there wasn't a sixth form disco dance floor in the country that didn't fill to bursting point whenever James's anthem, Sit Down, was played. After an early career plodding away worthily in the indie backwaters, Tim Booth and his chums suddenly realised that an unsubtle combination of baggy beats and a football chant chorus could catapult them to stardom and lo and behold, they had a number two hit.
James remained a big-selling act throughout the ensuing decade and now, after a seven year hiatus, they're back in the studio with comeback album, Hey Ma. Like most other bands that reappear after a long absence, they've smartly decided to ensure they satisfy their old fan base by making minimal changes to their sound, although Hey Ma is closer in style to Laid than the Gold Mother-era crowd pleasing that spawned Sit Down.
Like its 1993 predecessor, the seven piece's new effort takes time to grow on the listener, but once its quietly epic songs lodge in the brain it's as if James have never been away. Tunes slowly build to a shuffling beat before the soaring melodies irresistibly take flight, propelled by trademark jangling guitar, brass flourishes and Booth's soaring, passionate vocals. The ebullient front man has also retained his gift for erudite if occasionally silly lyrics, with White Boy's ''my mum says I look like Yul Brynner, too old for Hamlet, too young for Lear'' the most memorable example.
Other stand out moments include the strident title track, which blends a typically effervescent hook with some uncompromising anti-war imagery, and Waterfall, curiously akin to Blonde On Blonde-period Dylan with a sugar rush. Boom Boom's atmospheric guitars bring to mind fellow Mancunians Doves, although a self-indulgent Adagio For Strings-apeing interlude is one of the few bum notes to be found on Hey Ma. Overall, this is an impressive return to form from a group who continue to craft their own distinctive brand of understated, uplifting rock while those Sit Down sixth-formers contemplate thirty something paunches, mortgages and antenatal classes.

Αντιδράσεις προκαλεί το καινούργιο άλμπουμ των James.
Το ολοκαίνουργιο άλμπουμ των James, το πρώτο μετά από επτά χρόνια, είναι έτοιμο. Ονομάζεται 'Hey Ma' και κυκλοφορεί στις 7 Απριλίου. Όμως το δέκατο κατά σειρά άλμπουμ της μπάντας έχει προκαλέσει αντιδράσεις μιας και το εξώφυλλο απεικονίζει ένα μωρό που προσπαθεί να πιάσει ένα όπλο. Ήδη στη Βρετανία έχει απαγορευτεί η ανάρτηση των διαφημιστικών πόστερ στους δημόσιους χώρους.Ακολουθεί το tracklist:
